Ian Rivera Runs Through Q&A’s About Music and Life
StarBeat takes a chance to chat with Ian Rivera, a singer/songwriter/musician from the South Bay area of LA in California. His YouTube covers often include cool mashups of the current Top 40 hits. Let’s find out what he’s all about –
SB (StarBeat): Getting to Know You: How would you describe your music?
IR (Ian Rivera): I wouldn’t exactly give myself a certain genre. I’m a fan of all different kinds of genres and like to work with different styles. However, I’m a big fan of soul music and always try to incorporate some soul into my songwriting.
SB: Crystal Ball Time: What is your future goal?
IR: My main future goals are to increase a fan base and continue to create and release new music. I also want to meet more people and collaborate with others to work on music.
SB: Write or Wrong: What is something important about your style of songwriting?
IR: I’m always trying to improve my songwriting. I remember Lukas Graham said in an interview that songwriting should be hard, it shouldn’t be easy. That really stuck with me because I’m a perfectionist and my main goal is getting the point across. Whether it is telling a story or a personal experience, it’s important to tell a story and paint the picture for the listener
SB: Any Musical Influences?
IR: All time musical influence is Bruno Mars, I also love Lukas Graham, Babyface, and Stevie Wonder.
SB: On the Horizon: Any new music out?
IR: Yes, I have a song out on Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, and Beatport called “Tell Me” It was produced by a good friend of mine, Taylor Reyes. So please check it out!!
