La Vie est Belle: Music and Style with Taylor Belle
Life is good when you are pursuing your musical passions and expression like Taylor Belle is doing. StarBeat chatted with her to find out more.
SB (StarBeat): When did you start in music? How has your music evolved since you first started?
TayBe (Taylor Belle):
I have had a passion for singing for as long as I can remember, but I didn’t begin recording until I was in sixth grade. From my first experience on a stage in third grade, and to my first studio session, I instantly knew I was meant to be a singer.
My music has certainly evolved over the years – first singing pop and whichever songs I liked on the radio, to now having a moodier sound, intertwining the soulful sounds of R&B, and the electronic, dreamy vibes of alternative music.
SB: What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?
I think the ability to express myself and talk about whatever I’m feeling through my music is very exciting. Music gives me the opportunity to share my thoughts on such a large platform and hopefully inspire others while doing so.
It’s one of the greatest outlets for people to feel understood or connected with something so the fact that I can help people do that through my own work is amazing.
SB: Are you working on any new music right now? When can we hear it?
Yes! I am currently in the studio working on a ton of new original songs, and plan to release a single within the next few weeks. I will be releasing my first EP very soon after.
SB: What would be your dream venue to perform at?
Ah, I would have to say Madison Square Garden is a huge goal of mine.
SB: Would you like to collaborate with other artists? Who’s at the top of the list?
TayBe: Absolutely! There are so many talented artists who I want to collaborate with. Right now a few of the artists who I hope to work with in the future are Gnash and Blackbear, due to their incredible lyrics and unique artistry. It would also be cool to collaborate with other female artists, Halsey and Kehlani being two who inspire me immensely.
SB: Your IG account has a distinct style to it, how important is ‘image’ in the music world?
Image is extremely important, not only to express my personal style and tastes, but to allow me to communicate my message in the most effective way possible. Image is important for creating context.
If my personality is shown in the right way, I feel like it allows the listeners to hear my songs the same way that I hear them.
