Meghan Timony in The Time of Her Life
We caught up with vocalist Meghan Timony to find out how she got her start and where her music is taking her.
SB (StarBeat): From the Top: How did you get started with singing?
MT (Meghan Timony): I started taking voice lessons when I was nine years old. I then began singing in different plays and productions throughout elementary and middle school. I began singing on a serious level when I joined Boston City Singers in the year of 2014. Boston City Singers is a group of teenage singers located around the Boston area that perform throughout Boston as well as internationally.
That was the first time I sang on television – the group was a part of a singing competition show “Sing That Thing.” We sang the national anthem at the Celtics as well as performed around Boston and eventually traveled to Costa Rica on a two week tour in the summer of ’15.
After I graduated from BCS I began to jump into discovering myself as an independent Pop/R&B artist. I released my first single with the help of my good and talented friend Josh Lekas.
A week later I opened up for him playing my first show at Berklees “Red Room.” Since then I have done collaborations with several artists around the Boston/NYC area and have released an EP of my own. I opened for Aaron Carter this past April as well as American Idol’s Dalton Rappatoni just this month at Webster Hall in New York City.
Recently I have been working with Vincent Russo – a Long Island musician. He and I have put out two original videos and will now begin touring around the New York area this summer!
SB: Love Letters: What do you love most about singing?
MT: Singing is the ultimate escape for me, it’s something that I’ve always just been so passionate about. I’m grateful to be able to listen to great music but creating music and sharing it with people is something that I couldn’t love more.
Being able to connect with people through my music and share my thought and have people relate to what I’m saying is the coolest part for me.
SB: Time Travel: What are your future goals?
MT: I want to continue to develop myself as an artist that people can connect with. I hope to perform around the world one day and release new music that I love and that others can be positively effected by.
I would LOVE to travel and share my love for music as much as possible!
SB: Something New: Any New Music?
MT: I am currently in the process of working on my new single to be released by the end of summer, but my latest work is “City Lights” ft 30. It’s available on every major music platform and I love the vibe of it so definitely chek it out!
SB: Something Borrowed: Favourite Singers/Top Influencers:
MT: I would have to say SZA. Her album “Ctrl” is a work of art and her lyrics and incredible!
