Popping It Up w/ Singing DJ Ray Isaac

While his audience may be popping bottles, DJ and Singer Ray Isaac is bringing his edgy version of Pop music directly to the dance floor.

Ray IsaacSB (StarBeat): Quick Start: How did you find your way into the music world?

RI (Ray Isaac): I have been writing music since I was 15. When my cousin died from cancer I performed a song I wrote her and the support I received from that opened up doors for me and I recorded my first demo after that. My first performance was at her funeral.

So it was a blessing and a birth of my career.

SB: Labels: So you call yourself a ‘Singing DJ’. How do these things work together?

RI: Well I sing and I DJ at the same time when booked for festivals. I write songs and I also DJ. For example I just wrote a song with Bob Sinclar called Feel the Vibe which went number 22 in Italy pop charts and iTunes. It’s all over the radio and I’m so proud of that.

SB: Real World: What is the DJ life like?

RI: Well firstly I press buttons and mix. I have a natural ear for tunes and beat mixing which makes a huge difference. But it’s not easy. Mostly because there are so many of us out there and getting gigs can be a struggle if you’re still new and up and coming. I feel like I have done a great job on my own so far.

The life itself is fun – I love dancing and partying with people and making them happy.

Ray IsaacSB: Show and Tell: Is there one song or project that you are most proud of?

RI: Hmmm yes I love my music video and song HIDING. Because I wanted to expose the deep dark truths behind religious doors as well as the struggles people forced to stay in the closet go through.

And I kissed a boy on screen that was the day my parents fully saw who I am and so did the world Lol.

SB: Up and Coming: Any cool new stuff in the works?

RI: Yes! My two new songs and music videos PROVE I LOVE YA and FIRED UP! come out next year and I also have a Vlog series called Rays World starting soon on YouTube. Cannot wait!
