Try to Follow the Card w/ Magician Wafellow
Trick or Treat? Let’s go with Trick and check out magician Wafellow with his many tricks, tumbles and juggles!
SB (StarBeat): Quick Stats: How old are you and where are you from?
WF (Wafellow): 19 – Alabama.
SB: Time Line: How long have you been practicing/performing these various talents?
WF: I started magic about 5 years ago when I was 14 or 15. Starting around that same time, I took tumbling classes for about 3 years to help me perform flips. Finally, I started juggling about 3 years ago when I was 16 or 17.
SB: Starter Kit: What made you want to get into magic?
WF: I love entertaining people. If I can take someone out of their normal everyday life, make them smile, and let them have a good time, then I am having a good time. I learned that magic is a fantastic way to do that. I love being able to sit in a room full of people and entertain them for an hour with nothing but a deck of cards.
SB: Good vs. Evil: Do people ever get freaked out by your magic tricks and call you the devil?
WF: Yes, all the time actually. But I let them know I’m not the devil; I only work for him….muhahaha.
SB: Danger Zone: What’s the most dangerous trick or stunt you perform?
WF: I have a few different stunts I perform or have performed that people would consider dangerous. I once did an underwater blindfolded straight jacket escape (best youtube video ever). Also, I perform a magic trick where I shove a 4 inch nail up my nose. Finally, I routinely juggle knives and fire.
SB: Check-Up: Have you ever injured yourself practicing your talents?
WF: Oh yes, most definitely. I have sliced my head open, dislocated my shoulder, and broken my ankle all while practicing tumbling/flips. I also just recently lacerated my hand juggling a knife. I almost lost use of my thumb.
SB: Learning Time: Do you want to learn/acquire any new skills?
WF: I do! I have recently been getting into balloon animals. Also, it’s always been a dream of mine to be amazing on the piano.
SB: Nap Time: Do you need a nap? WF: Yes – always do.
SB: Day-Dreaming: What’s the ultimate dream?
WF: The ultimate dream is to entertain people for the rest of my life. My favorite and preferred way to do this is through YouTube and online video creation. I can share my talents through videos but I can also spread a good message, connect with people from all around the world, and create an awesome community online and in the real world. So that is what I hope to do one day.
SB: Contented: What kind of content do you post?
WF: I post a lot of different types of content. I obviously produce videos revolving around my performance talents. Therefore, I make videos displaying me performing magic tricks for the camera and/or for real life people. I also have a juggling series called Randomly Juggling Random Objects where people give me random objects (i.e. phones, knives, remotes, tennis rackets, socks, etc.) and I have to attempt to juggle them. But aside from talent-oriented content, I make vlogs – videos documenting normal days in my life, Car Jam Sessions – where I jam out to songs while driving, challenge videos, games, comedy videos, etc.
SB: Juggle-It: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever juggled?
WF: I’ve juggled hearts. Literal hearts. It was senior year. Anatomy class. We were dissecting a cow’s heart. I was like, “Yo teacher can I juggle those?”…….I’m just kidding I didn’t ask. I just did it.
SB: Top Pick: What is your favorite movie ever, ever, ever, ever?
WF: The Avengers – I’m pretty obsessed with this movie. I once made a YouTube video of me quoting the entire movie from start to finish from memory in one take.
